James Rodriguez sends wordless message to Luis Diaz after Liverpool vs Man City this weekend

Former Everton star James Rodriguez has sent a message to Luis Diaz after Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

Liverpool were forced to settle for a point at Anfield after Alexis Mac Allister’s second-half penalty cancelled out John Stones’ opener.

It’s fair to say that Jurgen Klopp’s men created to required chances to take all three points from the game.

Luis Diaz went close on three occasions and in truth, the Colombian should have done better in front of goal.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old deservedly received praise after an outstanding second-half display, with Gary Neville particularly impressed.

And James Rodriguez has also reacted to Diaz’s latest display for Liverpool.

Diaz took to Instagram yesterday and reflected on Sunday’s draw at Anfield.

He wrote: “It wasn’t the result we fought for. Big thanks to our fans. What an incredible energy. C’mon reds!”

Of course, Rodriguez enjoyed a short spell at Goodison Park between 2020 and 2021.

Despite the rivalry between Everton and Liverpool, it’s no surprise to see Rodriguez showing his support for a fellow Colombian in Diaz.

While Diaz impressed on Sunday with his desire and work-rate, he certainly lacked composure in the final third.

Darren Bent thought Diaz was ‘superb’ right up until it came to putting the ball in the back of the net.

The winger has netted 11 times and provided five assists in all competitions this season. But he could have netted a hat-trick against City on Sunday.

That has been a consistent criticism of Diaz’s game this season, with the Colombian often impressing but failing to take his chances regularly.

We’re sure he will regain his composure in the final third soon enough and despite his missed chances, Liverpool will feel hard done by after their draw against City.

The Reds were denied a penalty in the dying seconds of the game after Jeremy Doku caught Mac Allister on the chest with his studs.
