Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to appoint Ruben Amorim as their next manager, and Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest.
The Reds are on the lookout for a new boss after Jurgen Klopp announced he will be stepping down. The German will depart at the end of the season, and he will leave behind a massive void to fill.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of names over the last two months. Xabi Alonso was the favourite, but he ruled himself out of the race.
The next name on the list is Amorim of Sporting Lisbon. Romano has now shared what he knows about the situation.

Ruben Amorim has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while now.
The 39-year-old has been doing a phenomenal job in Portugal. His Sporting Lisbon side are on top of the league table and are favourites to win the title in the coming weeks.
Amorim has been linked with a move to the Premier League on plenty of occasions in the past, but links to Liverpool now are stronger than ever before.
The Reds are seriously considering him as Jurgen Klopp’s successor, and Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on what he’s heard about the two parties.
The journalist has revealed that ‘concrete’ talks between Liverpool and Amorim have already taken place about appointing him as the new manager.
However, Romano has urged Liverpool fans to be patient as the deal is nowhere near the final stages yet. If it is to happen, it will take some more time.
He said in his Daily Briefing: “I wanted to clarify the situation on Ruben Amorim again, as I’ve had many Liverpool fans asking me about the stories of an agreement being close for him to replace Jurgen Klopp on a three-year deal.
“My understanding remains that we are not yet at the final stages of the story. It’s true that contacts are really concrete – talks have taken place and will keep taking place, but we have to be patient and wait for the moment Liverpool make their final choice.
“I respect other journalists, but this remains my information for the moment so I think we still have to wait a bit longer for a conclusion to this saga.”

Ruben Amorim is under contract at Sporting Lisbon until the summer of 2026.
That means Liverpool will have to pay some compensation to the Portuguese league leaders if they want to appoint him as their next manager.
Amorim has a release clause in his contract that makes him available for a fixed fee, and Fabrizio Romano shared the details a few days ago.
It has been revealed that Amorim’s release clause has been set at £26 million for Portuguese sides and £17 million clubs abroad, like Liverpool.
However, Romano has revealed that Amorim has a ‘verbal pact’ with Sporting that could make him available for as low as £8.5 million this summer.
