'It's all about the details': Kolo Toure left unimpressed with 25-year-old Liverpool player vs Man City today

Kolo Toure was left unimpressed with Alexis Mac Allister’s defending for Manchester City’s goal at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool were forced to settle for a point against the Premier League champions, despite dominating the second half.

Alexis Mac Allister levelled things up from the penalty spot in the 50th minute after Ederson brought down Darwin Nunez in the box.

The Argentine calmly slotted his penalty away and Liverpool created plenty of chances to win the game, with Luis Diaz proving to be wasteful in front of goal.

But Kolo Toure has criticised Mac Allister for his role in City’s first-half opener.

City produced an exceptional corner which took Liverpool by surprise in the 23rd minute.

John Stones turned home Kevin De Bruyne’s corner, while Nathan Ake blocked off Mac Allister nearby.

And while there was hope from Liverpool’s supporters that the goal would be ruled out by VAR, Toure feels the Argentine had to do better.

“It’s all about the details,” Toure told the Premier League’s official website. “In those big games there aren’t many opportunities to score goals, so you have to take those opportunities.

“Mac Allister has to fight, don’t let him push you like that. Fair play to Man City.”

It was a smart corner from City and while Mac Allister arguably could have attempted to force his way past Ake, the set-piece simply caught Liverpool off-guard.

The 25-year-old put in an exceptional display on the day and provided a cool head from the penalty spot while Mohamed Salah remained on the bench.

This will feel like a missed opportunity for the Reds though as they certainly had the required opportunities to win the game.

Arsenal have now moved to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference but with Mikel Arteta’s side set to face City next, Liverpool will be hoping to capitalise against Brighton.
