Alan Pardew has questioned the attitude of Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz and has praised Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
The former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager has made his observation about the difference between Havertz and Nunez.
So, what has Alan Pardew said about Kai Havertz and Darwin Nunez? Let’s take a look.
Kai Havertz vs Darwin Nunez
Alan Pardew has been looking back on Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the third round of the FA Cup this past weekend.
While the former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager was impressed with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, who has “electric pace”, he has questioned Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz‘s attitude.
Havertz, 24, started the tie for Arsenal down the middle in a three-man attacking unit and came off in the 88th minute for Emile Smith Rowe, who has been tipped to leave in the January transfer window.
Nunez was deployed as the central striker for Liverpool in a 4-3-3 formation.
Pardew said on talkSPORT (7:53 pm, January 7, 2024): “Nunez brings the personality like a hunger, and you can forgive the misses because you know he is trying, he is looking like he is trying, he is making things happen.
“And Havertz sometimes he goes through games and emotionally, you wonder if he is involved in it enough. Is he serious enough for it? That’s the difference between the two, I would say.”
My View: Please don’t make Kai Havertz another Mezut Ozil
I do not think that you can question Kai Havertz’s attitude just because of how he comes across on the pitch.
Just because the Arsenal midfielder does not show a lot of emotions during matches does not mean that he does not care.
We had something similar with Mesut Ozil. During his time at Arsenal, the former Real Madrid playmaker was often accused of not caring and not trying. That was never the case.
Just because Ozil was not emotional on the pitch did not mean that he did not care. Similarly, with Havertz, we have to stop accusing someone of not having the right attitude because of how much emotion they show.
