Liverpool players continue their slow trickle back home.

Both the 2024 European Championship and Copa Ámerica are rushing full steam ahead to their conclusions. As they continue, Liverpool players are slowing finding themselves eliminated and on their way back to Merseyside to rest before the preseason.

The newest team to sadly not make it through is Ibrahima Konaté’s France. They were eliminated in the semi-finals against Spain in a 2-1 loss. Konaté was once again an unused substitute. Not great for him, of course, but for a player with an injury record like his, the lack of playing time is a benefit to the club. Since there is no third place match in the Euros, Konaté will return home.

Previous to that, France had advanced to the semis by beating Portugal on penalties in an otherwise goalless draw.

Therefore, as of now, the only teams that remain with Liverpool players are England and Netherlands, who will be playing each other in the second semifinal match on Wednesday for the chance to make the final.

In the US, Luis Díaz scored in Colombia’s comprehensive 5-0 win against Panama in the quarterfinals. At the same time, Uruguay and Brazil played out a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately for Alisson Becker in goal, Uruguay won to advance to the semifinals.

That means it will be Díaz and Darwin Núñez going head to head in the semifinal on Wednesday.
