Arne Slot looks set to be the next manager of Liverpool.

Liverpool are said to have agreed a deal with the Dutchman to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, and there’s a lot of intrigue around the Feyenoord boss.

With all due respect many Premier League fans won’t know all too much about Slot and his style, but, as this deal gets closer to being announced, we’re learning more and more about the gaffer.

Speaking on The Debrief, Kevin Hatchard has shared some insight into Slot as a manager, claiming that many of his friends who are journalists in the Netherlands have made it clear how highly the Feyenoord boss is rated.

Arne Slot is rated highly

Hatchard spoke about Slot and how he is viewed back in the Netherlands.

“I think the players will enjoy dealing with him. It’s interesting actually, friends of mine who work in the Netherlands who are sports journalists, they all speak really highly of him and they say that Liverpool have got a really good one there and that he could really succeed,” Hatchard said.

Arne Slot is difficult to judge

It’s really hard to know what Liverpool are going to get from Arne Slot.

Yes, Dutch media seem to rate him highly, but, at the same time, Eredivisie journalists were very high on both Erik ten Hag and Frank de Boer when they moved to England, and that hasn’t quite gone to plan.

The Dutch league has always been very hit and miss when it comes to players and coaches coming to England from the Netherlands, and that makes it tough to judge Slot.

Of course, it’s positive to hear that the Liverpool-linked manager is rated so highly, but only time will tell as to whether or not he has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.
