Virgil van Dijk has told Pitch Side that Ibrahima Konate is the first Liverpool player who comes to mind when asked who has surprised him most upon their arrival at Anfield.
Van Dijk, of course, has been a huge part of the Reds’ success over the last five years. And with that, he has played alongside some absolutely unbelievable players.

van Dijk surprised by Konate
The Dutchman was asked which one had taken him most by surprise following their arrival. And interestingly, he picked out someone who is perhaps yet to really find their best form since making the switch to Anfield.

Incredible player, for now, but also for the future. So I would say him is the first one who comes to my mind,” he told Pitch Side.
There is absolutely no question that Konate looks to have all of the attributes to be an absolutely world-class player in the years to come. He is still only 23 years of age.
When he is playing, he looks an incredibly class act. And he often makes the game look so easy.
Unfortunately, injury has prevented him from featuring more for Jurgen Klopp’s men. He has only managed to make two appearances in the Premier League so far this season. And he has only been in the squad on one other occasion.
Van Dijk is clearly confident that Konate is going to live up to expectations in the years to come. Perhaps many are also going to be surprised by just how good the young Liverpool centre-back is going to become.
