Peter Crouch lauded Alisson for the incredible save which denied Jefferson Lerma during the first-half of Crystal Palace’s clash with Liverpool on Saturday.
Crouch was speaking on TNT Sports (broadcast on 9/12; 13:29) at the break as the Reds had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping them from going into the break a goal down.
Alisson made his return to the side after missing the wins over Fulham and Sheffield United due to injury. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, he was unable to mark his return with a clean sheet as Liverpool conceded a second-half penalty.

But he did remind everyone of his world-class ability during the first-half. For a split second, everyone inside Selhurst Park must have thought that Lerma was about to score as he found himself in all kinds of space inside the penalty area.

It was the moment of sheer quality in what was a really poor first-half from the Reds. And Peter Crouch was blown away by the stop.
“In midfield, I think Will Hughes especially is getting after Endo, he’s getting caught in possession. The ball’s falling to Ayew. He’s in these positions, in a lot of space, and disappointed at times. And the one time he got it right was this one and it’s an incredible save,” he told TNT Sports.
Reminder of Liverpool goalkeeper’s world-class ability
Alisson’s quality is undeniable. However, he had recently come in for criticism after his performance against Manchester City before he sustained his injury.
Alisson was poor against Manchester City, giving away possession for Erling Haaland’s goal. And he did not look convincing throughout the game.
Obviously, that is not representative of how good the 31-year-old normally is.
Saturday’s save from Lerma however, was a clear reminder as to why Alisson is one of the very best in the business.
