Janusz Michallik has suggested that Liverpool have another player within their ranks who reminds him of Virgil van Dijk in a number of ways.
Virgil van Dijk added to Liverpool fans’ anxiety in the last few days with comments about his future at Anfield following the news that Jurgen Klopp will leave at the end of the season.
Van Dijk has subsequently insisted that his words have been taken out of context and he is fully committed to Liverpool. But his words did highlight that, at some point, the Reds will have to think about how they move on without the Dutchman.
Pundit compares Jarell Quansah with Virgil van Dijk
The 32-year-old is now into the final 18 months of his current contract at Anfield. So it is hard to imagine that he will be signing any long-term deals with the club in the future. And that is a scary thought, particularly as supporters continue to come to terms with the news that Klopp is going.

“Van Dijk, look, he’s 32, 33. I think if Klopp was there, he’d stay a year or two. But I think in 2025, you’re thinking about moving him on, especially with Quansah, who, I tell you, in so many different ways plays like van Dijk,” he said.
Liverpool starlet looks set for bright future
Of course, it is absolutely impossible to say where the next van Dijk is coming from. Ultimately, if Liverpool thought he would definitely hit the heights he has reached, they would have surely signed him from Celtic before he got to Southampton.
What you can say is that Quansah has made a brilliant start to his career. Trent Alexander-Arnold was amazed by Quansah on his Premier League debut. And he has just kicked on since then.
It says everything that the 21-year-old does not look out of place whenever he features for the Premier League leaders. Van Dijk himself has been impressed by Quansah at various points.
It is going to be a huge task to reach the Dutchman’s levels in the future. But given that van Dijk did not arrive in the Premier League until he was 24, there is plenty of time for Quansah to realise his full potential.
