Danny Murphy has shared his prediction for when Liverpool host Arsenal in this weekend’s standout game in the Premier League.
The top two face off at Anfield with the winner knowing that they are likely to spend Christmas Day at the summit of the table.
And Danny Murphy believes that it will be Jurgen Klopp’s side who come out on top and go back above Arsenal.
Danny Murphy backs Liverpool to beat Arsenal
Liverpool have a bit of a point to prove against Mikel Arteta’s men. The Reds were disappointing in their goalless draw with Manchester United at the weekend.

Arsenal meanwhile, made a real statement with their win over Brighton on Sunday. The Gunners became the first side to keep a clean sheet against the Seagulls in the league this season. Martin Odegaard was back pulling the strings. And Declan Rice continues to go from strength to strength.
Nevertheless, Murphy has told talkSPORT that he is confident for his former club.
“I don’t think Liverpool lose. I think the best Arsenal get is a draw. Even last year when they went 2-0 up, Arsenal, Liverpool pinned them back. It’s hard to win there. In fact, I expect Liverpool to beat them,” he said.
Chance to make a real statement
Of course, the Premier League title is not going to be decided at the weekend. But clearly, there is a fantastic opportunity for one of the sides to strike a real psychological blow.
Arsenal, in particular, will take a huge boost from going to Anfield and winning. It would also feel significant if they can put themselves eight points clear of Manchester City.
But they will not be taking Liverpool lightly. The Reds do not appear to have been at anything like their best this season. And yet, they are within touching distance of top spot.
And they will be absolutely desperate to make up for the underwhelming performance they served up against Manchester United.
