Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in world football.
The Egyptian is undoubtedly one of the most talented players on the planet, but it wasn’t always like this.
Indeed, rewind the clock a few years and Salah was seen as a flop during his time at Chelsea.
The winger didn’t really make much happen at Stamford Bridge, and he left the club not long after arriving in west London.
Speaking on the Planet Premier League Podcast, Cesc Fabregas has been discussing Salah and his development after leaving Chelsea, and he says that he’s stunned by how good the winger has become after playing with him at the London club.

Fabregas spoke about the £34m attacker.
“I’ve always admired that about Mo, he’s a very special talent, and I played with him at Chelsea for six months, he’s a top guy with a good mentality. He found his way and he’s showing everyone how good he is,” Fabregas said.
“When you were with him at Chelsea could you have envisaged the player he’s gone on to become?” Fabregas was asked.
“Not at all, I speak about this sometimes with friends, if you told me that he’d have achieved what he achieved when he was back there with us I would’ve said it was impossible. I’m being unfair here, because he didn’t have chances, you could see he was quick and he was attacking spaces, but in one vs ones he wasn’t as strong as he is now he wasn’t as prolific in front of goal.”
Who saw it coming?
Fabregas says that he’s been stunned by Salah’s development, and he’s not the only one.
At Chelsea, Salah was a scrawny, misfiring winger who looked like a bit of a pace merchant, nobody could’ve seen him becoming one of the best players the league has ever seen.
Salah’s rise to prominence has been remarkable, and he’s been a joy to watch since signing for Liverpool.
Salah is a prime example of what can be achieved if you work hard enough in this game.
