BBC pundit Garth Crooks has claimed that Ibrahima Konate is showing signs of becoming a future Liverpool captain.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side are having a fine season. They are currently on top of the Premier League table and are also among the favourites to win the three other competitions they’re in. Konate has had a brilliant campaign so far.

Liverpool signed Ibrahima Konate after triggering his £36 million release clause back in the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports).
The Frenchman was always viewed as a huge talent in Germany during his time at RB Leipzig. Everybody knew he would end up at a bigger club, and Liverpool came calling.
Konate’s development under Jurgen Klopp has been outstanding. He is one of the best defenders in the Premier League right now, and his recent form has been phenomenal as well.
After watching Konate’s performance against Bournemouth on Sunday, Garth Crooks included him in his Team of the Week on BBC Sport and claimed that the Frenchman is showing all the signs that make him worthy of being a future Liverpool captain.
He wrote: “The Reds dominated possession, while Konate and Virgil van Dijk never gave Dominic Solanke, Justin Kluivert or Luis Sinisterra a kick. Konate is looking more accomplished the more I see him.
“He was immense against Arsenal in the FA Cup earlier this month without Van Dijk by his side, and even better against Bournemouth. He is starting to look every inch a Liverpool captain of the future.”

Virgil van Dijk gets all the praise when you’re talking about Liverpool’s defending, but Ibrahima Konate deserves a ton of credit too.
Yes, the Dutchman is the best in the world, but Konate doesn’t just cover his own space but also helps Trent Alexander-Arnold out on the right side of the pitch.
To add to that, he is aggressive when he needs to be, strong in duels and his ability on the ball has improved a lot over the last year.
We don’t know if Konate will ever be a Liverpool skipper as Alexander-Arnold is likely to take the captain’s armband after Van Dijk moves on. But, the Frenchman will be a key player for the Reds for years to come.
