168 David Seaman has suggested that he will often tell the goalkeepers at Arsenal to study Liverpool star Alisson, insisting that they can really learn from the Brazilian.
Seaman was speaking on Wrighty’s House as he also suggested that Ederson is another who sets the standards in the modern game.
Of course, it is hardly surprising that David Seaman picked out both Alisson and Ederson as the two best goalkeepers around right now. The pair have been the ones to push the boundaries in the Premier League for some time now.
David Seaman wants Arsenal goalkeepers to learn from Alisson
Ederson has been incredibly consistent during his time at Manchester City. Meanwhile, Alisson was undoubtedly a game-changing signing for the Reds.
After lauding Ederson and his ability with his feet, Seaman moved on to expressing what has impressed him so much about the Liverpool stalwart.
“I look at Alisson, Alisson’s one vs one characteristics are fantastic,” he told Wrighty’s House. “If you watch him, everything will be moving – apart from his head. His head is totally focused on the ball.
“There’s always things you can learn. That’s what I’m telling the goalkeepers at Arsenal. Watch these guys, watch the guys at the top level, look what they do, to see what they do different like focus on their head like Alisson or with Ederson where he doesn’t have a lot to do, and all of a sudden he makes that save from stone cold.”
Game-changing signing for Liverpool
Alisson has had a few shakier moments during his time at Anfield. He did struggle in the recent draw with Manchester City. It was Alisson who cheaply gave away possession for City’s goal at the Etihad Stadium.
However, when he is playing with confidence, there is hardly anyone better in the world. When Liverpool’s defence was struggling, he was often the player keeping them in games and giving them the platform to secure some huge results.
Liverpool are now in a much better place. They do not look like the finished article just yet. And yet, they are back in Premier League title contention this season.
That may help bring the best out of Alisson when he returns from injury.
It would certainly be very good news for Arsenal if their goalkeepers are able to take some of the best bits from the likes of Ederson and Alisson.
