Liverpool have had some great players in their history, but this group of players may well be one of the best squads the Reds have ever had.
Indeed, Liverpool are on course for a potential quadruple at a time when standards in the Premier League are at their highest, and the whole Liverpool starting XI is incredible.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Kenny Dalglish has been discussing this Liverpool team, and he was asked to name the one former player he’d love to have in this squad.
Dalglish could’ve chosen a number of legendary players, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush or maybe even John Barnes.
However, Dalglish says that Graeme Souness would be the man he’d bring back into this Liverpool side.

Dalglish spoke about his former teammate.
“We give you one ex Liverpool player who isn’t there anymore to give them a push to win the Premier League as a gift from you to Jurgen until the end of the season?” Dalglish was asked.
“Souness, Souness if he could run, he can’t run now.We go back to when he first arrived, he didn’t want to be the top man, he wanted to just be there, so leave the armband with Virgil, leave it. He did a fantastic thing Graeme within a football club.” Dalglish said.
What a player
Souness may only be known by modern fans as a pundit with the odd controversial opinion, but, at the end of the day, he was a world-class player in his day who would get into any team.
Of course, whether or not Souness could get away with playing his style these days is up for debate – he’d probably be sent off every week, but the point stands that Liverpool, or any team, could do with a midfielder and a leader in Souness’ mould.
