‘I wouldn’t be happy’: Pundit says he’d be fuming if Liverpool hired 50-year-old manager now

We’re into the final few months of the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool.

The German announced last month that he will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season, and the Reds need to start thinking about how to replace him.

In all honesty, there aren’t many top managers on the market at the moment, but a former Champions League winner could soon be available.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Thomas Tuchel’s job at Bayern Munich isn’t safe, and, as you can imagine, that’s led to plenty of chat about Tuchel heading to Liverpool.

Speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol has been discussing the idea of Tuchel coming to Liverpool, and he says that after watching Bayern Munich this season, he doesn’t want to see the 50-year-old in the Anfield dugout anytime soon.

Steve Nicol doesn’t want Thomas Tuchel at Liverpool

The pundit shared his verdict on Tuchel.

“If FSG miss out on Xabi Alonso and get Thomas Tuchel as Klopp’s replacement would you be angry?” Nicol was asked.

“Oh no, yeah I wouldn’t be happy. Have you seen Bayern play this year? There you go, that’s all you need to do. No, do you want a percentage? Zero,” Nicol said.

Not the worst option

Nicol says he’d be far from happy with Tuchel at Liverpool, but, in all honesty, he may not be the worst option for the Reds.

He knows what it takes to take over from Jurgen Klopp – doing just that at Borussia Dortmund all those years ago, and he’s a proven winner.

Tuchel knows what it takes to be successful at the top level, and while he’s not had the best of seasons at Bayern Munich, every manager has those ebbs at some point or another.

Tuchel wouldn’t be the worst option for Liverpool.
