113 Gary Neville has shared whether he believes that Liverpool could now win the Premier League title after they won the first trophy of Jurgen Klopp’s last season, with victory in the Carabao Cup final at the weekend.
Sunday was certainly a special occasion for the Reds. Virgil van Dijk’s header towards the end of extra-time won the game against Chelsea at Wembley.
Of course, there is additional motivation for Liverpool this season. With Jurgen Klopp already confirming that he will be leaving in the summer, the Reds will be desperate to send the manager off on the biggest high possible.

One trophy is in the bag, and perhaps it could be followed by three more before the campaign concludes.
Liverpool lead the way in the Premier League. But they are involved in a fascinating battle between the Reds, Manchester City and Arsenal.
And speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Gary Neville admitted that he is not expecting Liverpool to get across the line in the league – but insisted that they absolutely can.
“Yeah if they didn’t have Klopp as a manager, I would say that might be as good as it gets. But with it being his last few months, and the energy and the spirit, you just know what’s going to happen there. I still don’t think they’ll win the league. But they could,” he said.
“They could go and win three or four trophies, because that’s what he’s capable of. I said at some point yesterday, he had a bantamweight team out on the pitch, a middleweight squad, but he punches like a heavyweight. And that’s what great managers do. They’re able to get more out of the players than you imagine that they could.”
Title win seems the perfect way to sign off
For many of us neutrals, it would be brilliant to see Klopp lift the Premier League title in his final season. This Liverpool side deserve to be remembered as one of the greatest the league has seen since 1992. And yet, because of Manchester City, they have only clinched one league title under Klopp.
The Premier League is going to miss Klopp tremendously. So it would be incredibly special if the Carabao Cup was not the final piece of silverware of his tenure.
And Liverpool’s performance in extra-time showed that the Reds do now have another gear to go.
