Gary Neville admitted he was surprised to see Jurgen Klopp take Dominik Szoboszlai off during Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
Liverpool were held to a goalless draw at Anfield yesterday as Erik ten Hag’s side frustrated them for large periods of the game.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were unable to find a breakthrough, despite dominating in terms of possession and shots on goal.
The Reds were largely sloppy with their work in the final third as the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah struggled.

And while Gary Neville also admitted the Hungary international was way below his usual best, he was surprised to see him replaced just after the hour mark.
Neville shocked after Klopp decision during Liverpool vs United clash
Neville was covering the game on Sky Sports and felt that despite an underwhelming display, Szoboszlai was causing Sofyan Amrabat real problems with his movement off the ball.
“I was surprised Szoboszlai went off,” Neville said while co-commentating on the game.
“I know he was nowhere near his best but he was making those runs in behind Amrabat into that far corner. It was causing the Manchester United midfield player a problem.”

But it’s fair to say he did struggle at Anfield on Sunday as his decision-making in the final third wasn’t up to scratch.
Yet, the same could be said for all of Liverpool’s players as they failed to make the most of some encouraging situations throughout the game.
Luis Diaz did go close in the first half before Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the post after being moved into midfield in the second period.
United also created a few decent openings on the counter-attack. But you’d have to say a draw as probably a fair result in the end as both sides lacked quality in the final third.
