Jay Bothroyd has now claimed that he wishes Arsenal had signed a Liverpool player this summer instead of Kai Havertz.
Although Havertz didn’t have the easiest of starts in North London, he is now becoming a vital cog in Arsenal’s attack.

That being said, Havertz does still have his doubters, including Jay Bothroyd judging by his recent comments.
Bothroyd was speaking with Mark Schwarzer on ‘The Optus Sport Football Podcast’ and lamented a few missed opportunities.
The pundit thought that Jurgen Klopp invested his money more wisely when signing Alexis Mac Allister this summer, a player Bothroyd really enjoyed watching.
Bothroyd admitted that he would have also preferred Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison as well, he felt funds could have been better spent.
Jay Bothroyd says Arsenal should have signed Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister instead of Kai Havertz
Schwarzer was initially dishing out praise to Mac Allister following his impressive role in Liverpool’s win at Brentford.
He said: “Another player I want to mention is [Alexis] Mac Allister.

Bothroyd then replied: “I really like Mac Allister from the beginning, I was hoping that Arsenal would make a move for him and bring him to Arsenal, but they decided to go with [Kai] Havertz, I don’t know why.
“I don’t even want to talk about that one, there was [James] Maddison as well, there was lots!”
Of course, it is a peculiar comparison considering Havertz and Mac Allister are very different profiles.
Perhaps the Argentinian would have been a smart addition for Arteta this summer, but he would have been needed in addition to Havertz.
To support Bothroyd’s point, Liverpool did seem to get better value with their Mac Allister deal, but Arsenal also secured a player with high potential, too.
Considering both Manchester City and Real Madrid were thought to be interested in Havertz, it shouldn’t be understated what a coup a deal was for Arsenal.
And to that end, Chris Sutton has now been pointing out why a lot of fans are now having to eat their words about Havertz.
