163 Liverpool are actually thinking about allowing Mohamed Salah to leave on a free transfer – rather than sell him to a Saudi Pro League outfit.
That is according to Christian Falk of BILD.

Liverpool could let Salah leave for free
Well, the Egypt international still has roughly 18 months to run on his contract at Anfield.
Salah sees his current terms expire in June 2025.
Now – according to Falk – Liverpool could actually keep the Egyptian at Anfield right up until that date, even if he expresses a desire to leave before his contract expires.
The Head of Football for BILD said: “Mo Salah might go to Saudi Arabia. In the summer there was an offer, but Liverpool are still not sure whether to let their superstar go.
“I’ve heard that Liverpool can even imagine letting him go on a free transfer as they’ve already made their money back from what they paid Roma for him.”
Liverpool paid £34m to sign Salah from Roma back in June 2017.
It has turned out to be one of the best signings in recent history – to say the least.
Salah has remarkably scored 204 goals in 332 appearances for Liverpool – while also providing 88 assists – with his efforts helping to secure the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Community Shield.
Huge decision
We can understand why Liverpool would feel content in allowing Salah to leave for nothing.
However – as we have witnessed over at Goodison Park with Everton this season – the Premier League are keeping a very close eye on profit and sustainability rules, with the Toffees even suffering a points deduction after breaching regulations.
Therefore, selling Salah for a huge amount could allow Liverpool to move a lot more freely in the market when attempting to navigate life after Jürgen Klopp – whoever replaces the German will surely want funds to work with in the transfer market.
Al-Ittihad remarkably offered £150m for the Liverpool No.11 back in September, according to Sky Sports, to give you an idea of how much the Reds could make from a sale.
Having said that, players like Salah – who Danny Murphy thinks could leave with Klopp – do not come around often, and finding a replacement will surely be impossible, so Liverpool have a massive decision to consider.
