David Ornstein has shared how much Liverpool will have to pay if they decide to trigger the release clause of Ruben Amorim this summer.
Ruben Amorim is one of several names in the frame to succeed Jurgen Klopp. Of course, Sunday’s Carabao Cup final victory highlights just what a huge challenge Klopp’s successor will have when they come in at Anfield.
Liverpool have their eye on Xabi Alonso. But the Spaniard, who is doing an amazing job with Bayer Leverkusen – is not the only name in the frame.
Liverpool will have to pay around £8.5 million to appoint Ruben Amorim
The Reds also like other options such as Thomas Frank. And it has recently been reported that Liverpool are also admirers of Ruben Amorim.

Speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, David Ornstein suggested that it would now cost just over £8.5 million to trigger the 39-year-old’s release clause.
“Ruben Amorim’s got a release clause in his contract. It was, I think a year ago when Chelsea spoke to him, up into the €20 millions. Now I understand it’s €10 million, which people might feel is low, especially if it was a player signing. But that is high for a managerial appointment, whether we like it or not,” he said.
Reds right to keep eye on Sporting boss’ progress
It is expensive for a manager. However, the Reds face a monumental task when it comes to replacing Klopp. So if they have to pay a sizeable fee for whoever they believe is going to be the right person to take them forward, then they have to do that.
It remains to be seen if Amorim is the right person in their minds. Certainly, it is going to take a lot to convince many Liverpool fans that Alonso is not the perfect candidate.
But like Alonso, Amorim looks to be one of the most talented young coaches working at a top European club right now. So it would be wise to keep an eye on him over the next few months.
