Michael Owen has become the latest former Liverpool player to come out and react to the news about Jurgen Klopp today.
Klopp has announced he will be leaving Liverpool in the summer and bring an end to the one of the most memorable spells of any Premier League manager.
The likes of Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker have been among the pundits and former players to react to the news and now former Reds striker Owen has joined in.
Taking to X today, Owen has admitted that while he saw Klopp’s resignation coming, he is surprised at the timing.
Replacing Klopp huge for Liverpool
Replacing any manager is a tough job but replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is going to be one of the hardest decisions going.
The Reds have been transformed under Klopp and while FSG work well behind the scenes and very much have their act together, replacing one of the best to ever do it is no easy job.

Klopp had signed a new contract until 2026 so to see him depart some two years before that date will be a bit of an issue for the Reds.
Who could replace Jurgen Klopp?
The candidates to replace Klopp will not be there in abundance. There are a lot of managers out there but we are talking about replacing a colossal figurehead here at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Ryan Babel has suggested that Diego Simeone could be one of the candidates to do the business, while others like Xabi Alonso are getting a mention as well.
But whoever it is is going to need to have a lot of character and something about them to succeed.
Klopp’s impact at Liverpool is huge and whoever steps in, will have a huge weight on their shoulders.
