'I think': Pundit says manager of fourth-place club will replace Arne Slot at Liverpool in the next two years

Arne Slot hasn’t even been confirmed as Liverpool’s next manager and there’s already talk about who could replace him.

Jurgen Klopp announced back in January that he will be leaving the club this summer.

The German hasn’t quite had the fairytale finish that he would’ve hoped for, but he still remains one of the greatest managers the Premier League has ever seen.

Liverpool are taking their time to appoint Klopp’s successor, and even though nothing is confirmed yet, it looks like Slot is the chosen one. Fabrizio Romano revealed recently that the deal is done.

Now, former Dutch international Jan Mulder has made a very interesting claim on who will become the Liverpool manager after Slot.

Pundit says Nicky Hayen will become Liverpool’s manager in two years

Not every manager in the world is cut out for the Liverpool job.

Before Jurgen Klopp, the Reds had a number of people at the helm who went through some really difficult periods at Anfield.

Liverpool fans are hoping that Arne Slot – if he does become their next manager – will hit the ground running, but that’s easier said than done.

It will be really interesting to see how Liverpool will fare next season, but Jan Mulder, who played five times for the Netherlands back in the day, is already looking ahead.

The Dutchman seems to be impressed with Nicky Hayen, who has been doing a terrific job at Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League.

Writing a whole article in which he has heaped praise on the 43-year-old, Mulder boldly claimed that he thinks Hayen will be off to Merseyside in two years to become the Liverpool manager.

He wrote on Humo: “Nicky Hayen will be festively named T1 of Club Brugge on the day of the championship of Belgium and will host a series of matches in the Champions League next year to attract attention from Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Manchester.

“Nasser Al-Khelaifi of Paris Saint-Germain also joins the last-minute fight for his signature.

“Personally, I think the great Nicky Hayen will replace Arne Slot as manager of Liverpool within two years.”

Who is Nicky Hayen?

Nicky Hayen is a 43-year-old coach who was named as the caretaker manager of Club Brugge in March this year.

A centre-back during his time as a player, Hayen played most of his football in Belgium along with a two-year spell in the Netherlands at RBC Roosendaal.

Hayen has done a brilliant job at Brugge. The Bruges finished fourth in the regular season and now with the 43-year-old at the helm, they are fighting to win the title in the Champions’ Play-Offs.

Hayen is still only the caretaker manager at Brugge, but what he has done since his appointment less than two months ago is nothing short of brilliant.

He has a bright future ahead of him in management, and it won’t be a surprise at all if he ends up in a bigger league in the coming years.

However, the Liverpool job in two years seems a bit unrealistic at this point.
