206 Roy Keane has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title despite strong starts to the season for Arsenal and Liverpool.
Speaking on Stick To Football, the pundit dismissed the idea of City losing their English crown even with the top-five separated by just three points, with Arsenal and Liverpool just behind the Manchester giants.
Mikel Arteta’s side have maintained their winning form from last season whilst Jurgen Klopp has rejuvenated the Reds with a new-look midfield and Mohamed Salah continuing to perform.
However, despite this, Keane still thinks the Premier League title is City’s to lose, with the Manchester United legend citing a lack of quality from other clubs as the main reason.
“I think the standard of the Premier League hasn’t been great the last month or two. I think some of the goals we are watching at weekends are so poor, the lack of quality.
“Man City are excellent, there’s no doubt about it. But I think the other teams need to sort themselves out, I really do. I still can’t see beyond City, even if they have some sort of blip, they are strong enough.”
Arsenal and Liverpool can challenge for the Premier League title
Keane has stuck to City winning the title for most of the season, whilst the likes of Gary Neville believe Arteta’s side could go all the way having come so close last year.
And whilst Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering footballing machine are the outright favourites, Arsenal and Liverpool still have enough in the tank to give City a real title race this season.
With Tottenham also impressing as well as Aston Villa, the top of the Premier League has never been as congested as it is now in what feels like forever.
And Arsenal and Liverpool can give fans a real three-way title race, with the best yet to come from either side this season heading into 2024.
