Ian Wright has shared his prediction for the Premier League title after Liverpool made a real statement with their 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
It is certainly threatening to be one of the most exciting Premier League title races there has been for a long time this season. Just eight points separate the top five right now.
Manchester City will be the team to beat for many. Pep Guardiola’s men have won their last three and now sit second with a game in hand over all of those around them.
It was also a massive win for them last time out as they came from behind to beat Newcastle. Kevin De Bruyne pulled the strings during the second-half on Tyneside.

But Arsenal and Liverpool responded with wins of their own this past weekend. The Gunners beat Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Emirates.

And speaking on Wrighty’s House, Ian Wright admitted that the nature of Jurgen Klopp’s side’s victory leaves him feeling that Liverpool are now on pole position.
“Liverpool have trod these boards before. They know what to do,” he said. “And no Trent, no Salah. And I thought that Bournemouth game was going to be a tough one. But can I just say, Darwin Nunez, whatever anyone says, 10 goals, 10 assists, he’s starting to do stuff. People can say whatever they want about how many chances he misses. But Konate and Virgil at the back, solid. I think Bradley will come in and it looks like he’s going to be solid for the time-being for what he’s doing. He looks really comfortable. But in the main, Liverpool, especially the way Mac Allister played the other day, I just feel like I fancy Liverpool. I really do.”
Reds made real point with huge win on Sunday
There may be an element of recency bias. It already feels like a long time since Manchester City were claiming a dramatic win at St James’ Park.
But Liverpool had to deal with the pressure of Manchester City and Arsenal winning. And while it took some time to break the Cherries down, they were ultimately able to get the job done.
Their only defeat this season came in controversial circumstances away at Tottenham. And with that, it really appears that Liverpool have become a real force once again.
So there may well be plenty who agree with Wright’s view on the title race.
