‘I’m worried’: Pundit says he’s really concerned about £11m Liverpool player against Man City

Liverpool face Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday and they head into this game as underdogs.

It’s not often that Liverpool go into any game unfancied these days, but when you’re playing the treble-winning champions of Europe, it’s a different kettle of fish.

City have the tools to cause Liverpool all sorts of problems, and according to Steve Nicol, speaking on ESPN, Pep Guardiola’s side could get some real joy down the wings.

Nicol says that he’s worried about both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas, claiming that match-ups against Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden or Bernardo Silva would be mismatches.

Nicol worried about Tsimikas and Alexander-Arnold

The pundit gave his verdict on the £11m man and Alexander-Arnold.

“If I’m Pep I’m looking at Trent and I’m looking at Doku and that’s a complete mismatch defensively, that’s what I’m worried about and you can look at the other side as well, Tsimikas against Foden or Bernardo Silva is a mismatch. You can’t go to Man City and expect to lose three and score four,” Nicol said.

Concerning

It has to be said that Liverpool could be in a bit of trouble here.

Alexander-Arnold can struggle defensively at times, while Tsimikas is no Andy Robertson.

City are so potent on the wings. They’re the masters at getting down the flanks and feeding balls into Erling Haaland, and while Liverpool will be ready for that, stopping City from playing in their way is much easier said than done.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to get one over City at the weekend, but if he’s to do that, he’ll need to make sure his full-backs are ready for the challenge that they will have to face at the weekend.

It could be a long afternoon for Alexander-Arnold and Tsimikas if City’s wingers are on their game on Saturday.
