141 Pedro Neto has been one of the better players in the Premier League this season.
The Portuguese winger starter this season in incredible form, racing towards the top of the assist charts before picking up an injury.
Neto’s good form led the winger to be linked to both Arsenal and Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window, and now, speaking on The Anfield Wrap, John Barnes has been full of praise for the Wolves forward, claiming that he’s a player he absolutely loves.
Barnes hails Neto
The Liverpool legend spoke about the £18m man.
“I think the quality in the league is outstanding, West Ham are an example, they have Paqueta, a fantastic player who’s playing for a team who will finish circa eighth. It’s right across the division, Pedro Neto from Wolves is my example this year,” The host said.
“I love him, I love him, I know he’s had his injury problems but I love him. What happened is 10 years ago teams started saying we’ll sign players you’ve never heard of, Pedro Neto for example, and they’ll get players from Portugal or Spain and then you’re saying ‘wow, look a them.’” Barnes said.
Seal of approval
Liverpool are said to be keen on signing Neto as a potential Mo Salah replacement, and the fact that he’s now received a seal of approval from Barnes is a great sign.
Make no mistake about it, Barnes knows a great winger when he sees one, and if he thinks Neto is a top player, perhaps Liverpool should have a serious think about signing him.
Of course, getting this deal done wouldn’t be easy, but if Liverpool do find themselves needing a new wide attacker over the next 12 months, perhaps Neto is someone they should take a serious look at.
As Barnes says, Neto is a fantastic player, and he could well have a big future ahead of him.
