Leaving Liverpool must be a very difficult decision.
The Reds are one of the best and most successful teams in English football history, and most players who come up at Anfield probably have visions of spending their entire careers with the Reds.
One local lad who had to leave Liverpool early in his career was Conor Coady.
The defender was an academy product at Liverpool, but after struggling to make much of an impact, he had to leave for Huddersfield Town back in 2015.
Now, speaking on the More Than a Game Podcast, Coady has been discussing his departure from Liverpool all those years ago, and he says that he actually found it very easy to leave Liverpool at the time as he was so desperate to play football.

The England international spoke about his departure.
“It’s funny because so many people ask me this question, what was it like leaving Liverpool, and I’ll be honest with you, I don’t want this to sound bad in any way, but it was easy because I was desperate to play footy. I was always a bit mature and I looked at people in front of me and thought ‘how am I getting in here?’ I made the decision myself but I knew the club would allow it,” Coady said.
Needed to grow
While it would’ve been painful for Coady to admit that he had to leave Liverpool, he knew deep down that this was the best thing for his career.
Quite simply, you won’t progress if you’re not playing football, and while moving to the Championship from Liverpool is a step backwards, it was what Coady needed at the time.
Since leaving Liverpool, Coady has made a real success for himself, playing plenty of Premier League football later in his career and even earning international caps with England.
Coady leaving Liverpool was probably the best thing he did for his career.
