Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Cody Gakpo for the way he scored against West Ham United last night.
The Reds sealed their place in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with a tremendous win at Anfield. They smashed the Hammers 5-1, and Gakpo led the line brilliantly. Liverpool boss Klopp was very impressed with the way he converted his chance in the second half.

Liverpool signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in January this year for an initial £35 million (Independent).
The 24-year-old was a superstar in the Eredivisie, and he has been very good for the Reds as well. Jurgen Klopp has used him in a number of positions, and he has done well in almost all of them.
Last night against West Ham United, Gakpo started up front for Liverpool with Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott on either side of him.
The Dutchman scored the Reds’ third goal in the 71st minute, and he took it really well. He showed a lot of composure and didn’t seem fazed at all even though there were a lot of bodies in front of him. Klopp was really impressed with his strike.
The Reds boss said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “Three-nil, Cody, wonderful goal but, again, similar situations in the game – this is a shot from Cody which is really special and I liked it a lot.
“Completely composed, no rush, just get into the position, finish it off and really difficult for the goalie. These are the differences. Besides that, it’s a different game.”
Cody Gakpo should start up front against Arsenal
Liverpool take on Premier League leaders Arsenal this weekend in what could arguably be their toughest game of the season.
The Gunners haven’t really been at their best this term in terms of fluidity in attack. They’ve scored five goals less than they did at the same stage last season, but they are still a very dangerous side.
Jurgen Klopp will have to decide between Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo up front. We think he should go with the latter as his movement will be a lot trickier to deal with for Arsenal than the Uruguayan’s.
It will be interesting to see what will happen on Saturday, but if Liverpool batter Arsenal like they did West Ham, they will be the favourites to win the Premier League title.
