Jamie Carragher has admitted he’d have liked to see a Manchester United managerial target in the running for the Liverpool job.
Arne Slot looks set to be the man to take over from Jurgen Klopp this summer, while Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United remains up in the air.
Liverpool have reached an agreement with Feyenoord while also agreeing on terms with Slot and the move could be announced this week.
The Dutchman emerged as a surprise frontrunner last week but there were plenty of other names in the mix beforehand.
Of course, the Reds missed out on Xabi Alonso, with the former Liverpool star committing his short-term future to Bayer Leverkusen.
With United also weighing up Ten Hag’s future, there could be movement in the dugout at Old Trafford this summer.
And Jamie Carragher has admitted that he’d have liked Liverpool to consider a manager who has been linked with the Red Devils.

Speaking on CBS Sports, Kate Abdo was discussing the possibility of Thomas Tuchel landing at United this summer.
“I feel very good about it,” the presenter said. “You know who feels uncomfortable with that idea? Jamie Carragher. Does not like it.”
“No. I like Thomas Tuchel,” Carragher admitted. “I’d have liked him maybe to be in the running at Liverpool.
“I think he’d be a good appointment. If he gets to the Champions League final and it’s a big if, he would have been involved in three of the last six Champions League finals.”
Of course, Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer after an underwhelming season at the Allianz Arena.
The German boss’s agents have already contacted both United and Liverpool over a possible switch back to England.
Slot looks set to be the man in charge at Anfield next summer but a decision over Ten Hag’s future is yet to be made.

Despite his shortcomings at Bayern this term, Tuchel boasts an excellent CV after delivering titles in Germany and France.
The 50-year-old also picked up a Champions League title during his spell at Chelsea and would be an intriguing option for United should they wish to replace Ten Hag.
He was never really in the frame to replace Klopp, with Slot emerging as the leading candidate last week.
Of course, Tuchel has experience in replacing the Liverpool boss after taking over Borussia Dortmund following Klopp’s switch to Merseyside.
Tuchel also took over at Mainz within 12 months of Klopp’s departure from the German outfit back in 2009.
While Bayern’s league form has been way below their usual standards this term, Tuchel remains in with a chance of success in Europe. Bayern were held to a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in last night’s semi-final, with the second leg set to take place at the Bernabeu next Wednesday.
