Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that Darwin Nunez is not a classy player, but claimed that he has all the attributes to be a success at Liverpool after his winner on Wednesday.
It was Nunez who ultimately settled their midweek clash with West Ham at Anfield. The Uruguayan produced a smart header from a Kostas Tsimikas cross to put the Reds in front.

Darwin Nunez is not a classy player
With Diogo Jota sidelined, Liverpool fans will hope that they are about to see the best of Nunez. But when it was put to Ferdinand that he is a classy player, he insisted that he is looking like a lot of things – but classy is not one of them, just yet.

“I don’t think classy would be one of the words I would use. I think he’s a handful. He’s aggressive, he wants the battle, he wants contact. Doesn’t mind that. He wants to run in behind and make it uncomfortable.
“His finishing, his execution isn’t quite clean yet. He may end up being a classy, mean finisher. But at the moment, I don’t see him as being that.
“I think he’s got all the right attributes to be a success at Liverpool.”
It has felt as though Liverpool have been in disarray for much of the campaign so far. And yet, they now sit seventh in the table and are just four points back of the top four.
Injuries are really hurting the side this season. But it does appear that Nunez is starting to find his feet on Merseyside.
He obviously got off to a poor start, being sent off on his Premier League home debut. And there was some time between his first and second league goals for Liverpool.
But it is starting to click into place for the 23-year-old. And his confidence may be higher than it has ever been at Liverpool – which may be ominous for some of the sides ahead of the Reds.
