‘I’d buy him’: Pundit says Liverpool should now sign striker who hasn’t scored for five months

Liverpool have a knack of helping players transform their careers.

The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah have all absolutely transformed their reputations at Anfield, and as a struggling player with plenty of potential, there probably isn’t a better club to sign for.

Now, speaking on Off The Ball, John Giles has suggested that the Reds should sign a striker who is going through a serious goal drought at the moment.

Liverpool should sign struggling striker

Giles was discussing Evan Ferguson’s future after his difficult week for Ireland, and he says that despite the fact he’s not scored for five months, he still thinks Manchester United or Liverpool should sign him.

“If you’re talking about Manchester United and Liverpool if they’re going to buy a striker, I’d buy him. Without question. Yeah, strikers don’t always have a good time, but when they’re not having a good time is when you really judge them,” Giles said.

“You can see it in them, they don’t shy away from it, he’s the real McCoy in my opinion. I’d go with him anytime.”

Evan Ferguson has potential

Ferguson really isn’t playing well at the moment – he’s not scored since November, but he does still have plenty of potential.

He’s got all of the raw attributes you’d want from a striker, he’s strong, he’s fast and he does have a nose for goal.

However, he’s lacking confidence at the moment, but perhaps a move to Liverpool where he’d be able to slowly bed into the team and work alongside more top players would help him improve and reach the level that he’s expected to reach in the coming years.

Who knows? Perhaps if Roberto De Zerbi does replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, this is a move that could well come to fruition.
