Liverpool lost to Crystal Palace on Sunday, and it’s fair to say that the Reds weren’t at their best on the day.
Indeed, for one reason or another, Liverpool froze against the Eagles on Sunday, suffering a rare home defeat at the worst possible moment of the season.
There were a litany of Liverpool errors that led up to Eberechi Eze’s decisive goal, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has pointed the finger at one Liverpool player in particular for his poor defensive contributions.

The pundit picked holes in Ibrahima Konate’s efforts to stop Eze’s goal, claiming that he was way too static as Palace built the attack.
“It’s interesting to look at Konate, there, he just doesn’t move, he gets stuck there, he’s like Madame Tussauds, I just couldn’t believe it, it’s a bad position he’s picked up,” Sherwood said.
Liverpool are getting nervous
Sherwood is spot on, Konate froze in that moment, and we can only put that down to nerves.
Konate is usually one of the most pro-active and aggressive defenders in the Premier League, but on this occasion, he was uncharacteristically passive and static.
Ultimately, that cost Liverpool a goal and the game, and now, it remains to be seen whether or not this result will cost Liverpool the Premier League title.
Whether or not Liverpool can wrestle back control of the title race remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, if the Reds are to get back to the top of the pile, they need to buck up their ideas at both ends of the pitch because they’ve been poor in both an attacking and defensive sense as of late.
Konate will have had a talking to after this game, and hopefully, the £36m man comes into the next match much more focused.
