Chris Sutton has shared his Merseyside derby prediction as Liverpool prepare to make the short journey to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Wednesday.
It is going to be a fascinating battle this week which will have implications at both ends of the Premier League table.
Liverpool got back to winning ways by beating Fulham on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp‘s side desperately needed the three points at Craven Cottage after Arsenal had won the previous day.
That result came shortly after Everton secured a huge victory in their battle to stay in the Premier League. Goals in either half saw Sean Dyche‘s men beat fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest 2-0.

That result has taken Everton five points clear of the bottom three with five games to go. Another victory will surely take the Toffees to the brink of safety.
The form book often goes out the window for a game such as this. But Chris Sutton has told BBC Sport that he sees Jurgen Klopp’s side edging a close encounter this week.
“Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a lot of changes for Sunday’s win at Fulham, including leaving Mohamed Salah out, but they still won pretty comfortably,” he said, as he predicted a 2-1 away win.

“Liverpool have got more quality and they should have plenty of opportunities. If they take them, they will win.
“This is the second in a run of three away games in a row for Klopp’s side, with a trip to West Ham to come at the weekend. It looked like a tricky run at a crucial stage of the season but at the moment they look capable of getting through it.”
Another massive stop on Jurgen Klopp’s farewell tour
Liverpool will know that Everton will be right up for the game. Their supporters will not allow them to not be, particularly when so much appears to be riding on the contest.
But the Reds have a real point to prove. Some, including Gary Neville, still believe that Liverpool can win the title. However, they surely need to be flawless between now and the end of the campaign.
It is Klopp’s final Merseyside derby, too, which adds to the drama.
If Liverpool are at anything like their best, they should get the result.
But Everton will be dangerous if they get a sense that the Reds are there for the taking.
