‘I came away gobsmacked’: Chris Kirkland says £56m Liverpool player was unbelievable when he watched training

Liverpool have some of the very best players in the world on their books right now.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are undoubtedly world-class, but perhaps the one player who stands above his peers moreso than anyone else is Alisson Becker.

The Brazilian may genuinely be the best goalkeeper we’ve ever seen in the Premier League.

He’s barely put a foot wrong since joining Liverpool, and while he’s amazing on the pitch, by the sounds of it, he’s even better in training.

Speaking to The RedMen TV, Chris Kirkland has been discussing his trip to the AXA training centre to watch the team train, and he says that he came away gobsmacked by just how good Alisson was behind closed doors.

Alisson incredible

Kirkland shared how good the £56m man was.

“He is awesome. I get asked about him all the time and I’ve been down there to watch him train and I came away gobsmacked. I know we see it in games, but in training I couldn’t believe what I was watching. He makes the easy things look easy and the hard things look easy. It’s no fuss. We’re very lucky to have him,” Kirkland said.

Pain

It must be such a pain to have to train against Alisson every day.

Imagine that as a striker.

You come into training hoping to have a bit of fun and flex your finishing muscles and you’re tasked with beating arguably the greatest goalkeeper of all-time in these sessions.

Alisson is ridiculously good at all aspects of the game, and Liverpool are so lucky to have him as their number one.

The 31-year-old will undoubtedly go down as a legend at Anfield when all is said and done.
