'I believe': Danny Murphy has 'great news' for Liverpool fans about Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool icon Danny Murphy has now pointed to an area of Alexis Mac Allister’s game which still could be unlocked by Jurgen Klopp.

Mac Allister was perhaps the most understated of Liverpool’s excellent performances in their 4-0 win at Bournemouth last night.

Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez deservedly stole the headlines, two attackers who are proving their worth in the absence of Mohamed Salah.

Moreover, 20-year-old Conor Bradley also proved just how much potential he has whilst playing understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

That being said, Alexis Mac Allister was the key performer in the first half, before Liverpool completely unlocked Andoni Iraola’s side.

And when analysing the performance on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2, Murphy still thought there was a lot more to come from Mac Allister at Liverpool.

Murphy compared the role the Argentinian plays under Klopp right now to his days at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Speaking after Liverpool’s win, Murphy said: “From a creative point of view and someone who is bold and brave and wants to pass through the lines and make things happen.

“Mac Allister is a really intelligent footballer and the great news for Liverpool fans, I believe, is that they haven’t seen him in his best position yet.

“Where he scored double figures for Brighton and plays for Argentina, further up the field.

“But what he gives you is bravery on the ball. That is a Alexander-Arnold pass in effect.

“Mac Allister is one of the few players in the squad who can hit those passes and split defences.

“That’s why in the big games he will play, when he’s fit.”

Of course, many Liverpool fans may agree with sentiments to move Alexis Mac Allister further forward.

Whilst Klopp’s squad looks fairly complete right now, there are still one of two profiles which would strengthen their prospects.

And were Liverpool to sign a player akin to Fabinho in his prime, Murphy could get his wish in seeing Mac Allister move further upfield.

That being said, Gary Lineker has now been waxing lyrical about an £85m player Jurgen Klopp would love to sign
