Frank Lebouef believes that Liverpool have to be open to selling one player this summer, insisting that they could get a lot of money over the coming months.
It is going to be a fascinating summer at Anfield. Obviously, Jürgen Klopp has already announced that he will be leaving as the Reds’ manager.
But there are also doubts over the futures of some of their most important players. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract at the end of next season.
Van Dijk has already spoken about his future. The Dutchman plans to wait and see what happens with Klopp’s successor before making any decisions.
Liverpool should consider selling one player if they receive £100 million bid this summer
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold’s status as an academy graduate surely helps Liverpool’s chances of ensuring that he goes nowhere.
But there is potentially a question mark over where Salah will be next year. Liverpool rejected a bid from Saudi Arabia for the Egyptian last summer (BBC Sport). And the financial strength of the Saudi game does not appear to be going anywhere.
Salah is also 31 now. So handing him another lucrative deal could be a gamble. His only two goals in his last five appearances have come from the penalty spot.

“If you can get £100 million, £150 million for Mo Salah at that age, you should take it, because sooner or later he’s going to leave,” he said.
“And it’s maybe a good opportunity to get money and maybe bet on some other players. It’s sad because Mo Salah is still at the top. But it’s a huge opportunity to get a lot of money.”
Reds face a dilemma deciding on Mohamed Salah’s future
Much will come down to who Liverpool appoint to replace Klopp. It may be that the next manager would prefer to move Salah on given that he may be coming towards the end of his peak.
But this could still be one of the best league seasons of Salah’s Liverpool career. He is on 17 goals in just 26 appearances this term. And he has only bettered 23 goals in one league season in his Anfield spell.
His form has been a little underwhelming of late. But there is a reason that Klopp is likely to put his full faith in the forward as Liverpool look to get their title charge back on track.
There are going to be risks taken over the next few months. It will be interesting to see if any of them centre around Salah’s future.
