Roberto Mancini has been speaking about Simone Inzaghi – a manager who is apparently a target for Liverpool.

The 59-year-old made the comments when speaking to Tuttosport.

So, what did Roberto Mancini say about Simone Inzaghi amid links to Liverpool? Let’s take a look…

Roberto Mancini advises Simone Inzaghi to stay at Inter Milan

Well – according to Tuttosport – the Inter Milan boss is an option for Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp departs Anfield this summer.

However, Mancini believe Inzaghi should remain at the San Siro and try to bring the UEFA Champions League back to Milan.

The manager of Saudi Arabia said: “He has a European playing style, and I’d see him well in the Premier League because it’s a league that suits his aggressive and dynamic way of seeing football.

“However, he is already in charge of one of Europe’s top three or four teams. What they did in the Champions League last season has boosted everyone’s self esteem, and I believe that, after the Scudetto, the next target will be to bring the Champions League back to Milan.”

Inzaghi – aged 47 – has impressively overseen 289 wins from 484 games during his time in management.

The man from Piacenza has lifted the Coppa Italia on two occasions with the Nerazzurri – while also guiding them to the UEFA Champions League final last season.

Liverpool have better options

As impressive a CV as Inzaghi possesses, we believe there are better options for Liverpool.

Mainly, this is due to the fact the Italian uses a 3-5-2 formation, which is quite different to Klopp’s 4-3-3.

A narrow attacking system like Inzaghi’s would surely nullify the likes of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah at Anfield – both of whom like to take advantage of width.

Liverpool are also believed to have shortlisted Xabi Alonso – who is apparently keen on the vacancy – while Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP is said to be a backup option.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Liverpool continue to prepare for life after Klopp.
