Liverpool came away with a point at Manchester City this weekend but John Aldridge feels goalkeeper Alisson got away with one.
The Brazilian goalkeeper was all over the place at times and he made a couple of mistakes and a couple of saves before compounding his day by getting injured.
Alisson’s mistake allowed City to get the opening goal and it was a strange display from the stopper.
And writing for Sunday World about the Liverpool goalkeeper, former Reds striker Aldridge admitted the Brazilian was lucky at times.

Writing for Sunday World, Aldridge lamented Alisson for a poor display.
“Alisson got away with a horrible mistake when he gifted the ball to Phil Foden early on and he was lucky the City midfielder didn’t make the most of the opportunity,” Aldridge said.
“Yet as a manager, you can’t legislate for mistakes, and after Alisson got away with his first big error when Foden fluffed his lines, his second big mistake was punished. He scuffed his clearance trying an ambitious ball to set Mo Salah free and a few seconds later, he was picking the ball out of the back of his own net as Haaland opened the scoring. I even think Alisson could have saved Haaland’s shot, as he didn’t strike it cleanly, but you have to give credit to the big Norwegian for taking his opportunity and his scoring record is just fantastic.
Aldridge did, however, suggest that the Liverpool stopper had redeemed himself a tad by the end of the game.
“Even though his distribution with his feet was poor throughout the game, Alisson made up for his mistake on the opening goal with a couple of great saves and one of those was just before the Liverpool equaliser.”
A nightmare day summed up by injury woe
It was certainly an odd performance by the Liverpool star here. So often so reliable and producing in big moments, he just seemed completely off his game.
Yes, he did make a few saves as mentioned above. But in the main, he was nowhere near his level and the fact he picked up an injury just compounded a poor day at the office for him.
Alisson is still waiting to hear on his injury but he’s expected to miss at least a few weeks and while he might have been poor this weekend, that’s a big blow for the Reds.
