Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has singled Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk out for praise in Saturday’s Premier League win at Crystal Palace.
The Anfield icon, writing on X, said the Reds duo were “outstanding” on the day and have been doing some “very heavy lifting” this season.
Liverpool came from behind to get the better of the Eagles on their own patch, with the winner coming in second-half injury time.
The Reds were second-best for much of the encounter, and trailed from the 57th minute until the 76th minute.
Liverpool conceded a penalty – following a VAR review – after Jarell Quansah caught Jean-Philippe Mateta when attempting to clear a cross.

Mohamed Salah then restored parity with his 200th Liverpool goal, seeing an effort deflected into the Palace net in the 76th minute.
Then, in the first minute of added time, Harvey Elliott let rip with a fine curling effort to grab all three points for the visitors.
During the game, Alisson – who was making his return from injury – made a number of superb saves, while Van Dijk was at his dominant best once again.
Carragher acknowledged that Liverpool have to improve defensively, suggesting Alisson and Van Dijk had once again got the Reds out of trouble.
He also called Salah a “legend” – complete with crown emoji – following his milestone double century goal.
Busy month ahead for Liverpool
Liverpool have six games between now and the end of New Year’s Day.
The Reds wrap up their Europa League group campaign with a trip to Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday.
Liverpool then host Manchester United in the Premier League before facing West Ham at Anfield in the Carabao Cup.
Just before Christmas, Jurgen Klopp’s charges have a third home game in a row, this time against Arsenal.
The Reds then head to Burnley on Boxing Day before starting 2024 against Newcastle at Anfield.
