As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Klopp explained that the 25-year-old has a ‘big opportunity’ against Liverpool’s struggling rivals on Monday. “It is an opportunity.
“He only came back to team training on Sunday from a little issue. Nat Phillips played a really good game against Palace. Joe is back, he will start and it’s a big opportunity.”

This allowed Nat Phillips to start alongside Virgil van Dijk, as Klopp’s side drew their second Premier League game on the bounce, after going down to ten men following Darwin Nunez’s red card.
Klopp confirms Gomez will start against Man United
It’s a huge match for both teams, with Man United sitting bottom of the Premier League after two embarrassing defeats, and Liverpool already four points adrift of title rivals Manchester City.
The pressure will be on Gomez to perform in a Liverpool back line that hasn’t kept a clean sheet in their last six league games.
Gomez has only beaten Man United once playing for Liverpool, however it was also the only match he’s played against the Red Devils where he started at centre-back.

Injuries have plagued his Liverpool career up to this point, but with Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate both on the sidelines right now, this is the perfect opportunity for Gomez to break into Liverpool’s starting line-up.
Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from two very poor performances, and a fired up side under new manager Erik ten Hag will be a difficult test at a hostile Old Trafford.
