Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez helped Uruguay record a 2-0 win over Argentina in World Cup qualifying on Thursday night.
The Reds ace helped Marcelo Bielsa’s side seal victory against the reigning world champions with the game’s second goal.
Nunez secured the points with a tidy finish following an Uruguay counter-attack in the 87th minute of the match.
Media outlets who published post-match ratings about the Uruguay players liked what the saw from the Liverpool star.
‘He did what he does best’
For instance, El Observador gave Nunez an 8 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the night.
“After nine minutes he missed the chance to score an incredible goal,” they wrote.
“He did what he does best, running with the ball and leaving his markers behind.
“Nunez was comfortable finishing, with time and space, but his shot went wide.
“He became the first defender, put on a great physical display, and was everywhere.

Meanwhile, Vavel gave the Liverpool man a 7 out of 10 rating for his efforts in Buenos Aires.
They wrote: “The Liverpool striker, who had not had a great performance early on, sealed the result at the end of the match.
“A reward for his efforts.”
Nunez going from strength to strength for Liverpool and Uruguay
It’s great to see Nunez really hitting his stride for both Liverpool and Uruguay.
His difficult maiden season at Anfield is now a thing of the past and he’s proving himself for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Likewise, Nunez is really making a name for himself under Bielsa, one of the best coaches in world football.
It’ll be exciting to see how the 24-year-old continues to develop as a player under Klopp and Bielsa.
