Robbie Mustoe has suggested that one Liverpool star almost looked like a different player in their victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday after really struggling for form of late.
Liverpool got back to winning ways at the weekend, and they looked a lot more like the side which was right in the Premier League title mix just a few weeks ago, racing into a 4-0 lead inside the first hour against Tottenham.
Spurs threatened to set up a tense finish at Anfield, but Liverpool were able to see the game out and all but ensure that they will finish third in Jurgen Klopp’s final year with the club.
Their recent form has definitely been a worry, with Mohamed Salah only scoring two goals in his last eight league appearances for the Reds. Both of those goals came from the penalty spot.
Salah has come in for criticism for his recent form, and he was involved in a disagreement with Jurgen Klopp on the sideline before coming on against West Ham last month.
Mohamed Salah looked a completely different player in Liverpool win
But the Egyptian scored one and set up another as Liverpool won on Sunday. And speaking on The 2 Robbies, Robbie Mustoe suggested that Salah reminded everyone of his quality once again.
“Now obviously, there was a spat on the sidelines, very angry at his manager, and they made up apparently, according to Jurgen Klopp. He was a different human-being today,” he said.

“And there’s no bigger and better fans of this guy over the years, but he was just really off his game, his sharpness, his desire and determination, and that was back today.”
What Reds star has done this season may actually not be getting enough credit
It is remarkable that Salah has still scored 18 goals and contributed 10 assists in 30 league games this season, and yet, it does not feel as though he has set the world alight.
Of course, that is largely down to the standards that he has set over the years. You would have to go back to February 2023 for the last time he went four league games without scoring in a single campaign.
And at a time when Liverpool looked poised to make a real push for the title, it was alarming that he seemed to go completely off the boil after years of being the player to inspire the Reds to greatness.
It is pleasing that Salah has had a chance to put things right after what happened at the London Stadium, reminding everyone of why he will undoubtedly go down as one of the all-time greats in the Premier League.
