‘He’s underestimated’: Sam Allardyce says Liverpool should sign £22m Premier League attacker now

Liverpool may need to start thinking about how to replace Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian is undoubtedly one of the Reds’ most important players, but, sadly, he may not be at Anfield for much longer.

The winger has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League over the past few months, and that move could go ahead in the summer.

The Reds will have to find a replacement, and one player who has been linked as of late is Jarrod Bowen.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing Bowen, and he agreed that he’s someone Liverpool should be looking at.

Liverpool should look at Bowen

Allardyce shared his verdict on the winger.

“Is Jarrod Bowen the closest player to Mo Salah in terms of position and style? Is he someone Liverpool should be looking at soon?” Allardyce was asked.

“I think so, I think he’s earned his place for people to look at him like that. He’s been up there, he’s been in the England squad, been left out, had a quiet time and now he’s come back again. It’s not just what he has as a player, it’s what he has in terms of goal ability. He’s underestimated I would say by all of football in the Premier League, perhaps one big club doesn’t and they make a move for him, certainly his intelligence and the opportunities and success he has in front of goal is worthy, and he’s guaranteed Premier League success,” Allardyce said.

Next level

This would be a logical move for both Bowen and Liverpool.

The reality is that there aren’t many players in Salah’s mould out there at the moment, but Bowen does fit into that category as a pacey right winger who loves to cut in and finish on his left foot.

Bowen has proven this season that he can be just as clinical as someone like Salah, and in a team that creates as much as Liverpool do, he could score buckets.

This is certainly a potential transfer target that Liverpool should keep in the back of their minds. After all, he is a player Jurgen Klopp loves.
