‘He’s smart’: Patson Daka says ‘strong’ Liverpool player is almost impossible to play against

Patson Daka has named Virgil van Dijk as his toughest ever opponent.

Speaking to the PFA on TikTok, the Zambian striker was asked a round of quickfire questions.

The Leicester star answered plenty of questions about life at the King Power Stadium and his views on the wider footballing world, and when he was asked to name the toughest defender he’s ever faced, he didn’t hesitate.

Indeed, Daka was steadfast in his view that Van Dijk was his toughest ever opponent, noting that his combination of strength an intelligence make the Dutchman almost impossible to face off against.

Virgil van Dijk is Patson Daka’s toughest opponent

The striker spoke about the Liverpool star.

“Toughest defender you have faced?” Daka was asked.

“Virgil van Dijk, he’s smart, he’s physical, he’s strong, yeah,” Daka said.

Impossible

We can’t help but feel bad for any striker tasked with playing against Van Dijk.

The Dutchman has it all, and a player like Daka doesn’t stand a chance against him.

Daka is a fantastic player in his own right, and his speed can bamboozle most centre-halves, but Van Dijk is quick enough to easily deal with him, and when your biggest attribute is nullified in such a way, it’s incredibly disheartening.

Daka will likely be back in the Premier League with Leicester City next season, and while he may be excited about playing top-flight football once again, we have to imagine that he won’t be all that thrilled by the idea of playing against Van Dijk again.

Daka isn’t the first striker to speak about Van Dijk in this way, and he certainly won’t be the last.

The Dutchman may well be the best centre-back of his generation, and we don’t envy any striker who faces the task of playing against Van Dijk.
