West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has suggested that teammate Jarrod Bowen would be the perfect signing for Liverpool right now.

Antonio was talking to Newcastle United teammate Callum Wilson on the Footballer’s Football Podcast.

The pair were discussing the future of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.

The 31-year-old is one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history and has been consistently brilliant for years.

However, there was intense speculation in the summer that he might depart the club, with huge sums of money being spoken about.

Liverpool resisted, but it feels like it might only be a matter of time until Salah joins some of his old teammates in the Saudi Pro League one day.

It means that Jurgen Klopp will already be on the lookout for his replacement which is going to be an extremely difficult task.

Michail Antonio has suggested that Jarrod Bowen would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool.

However, the new contract he just signed might make the £22m forward a much more expensive addition than he would have been in the summer.

Antonio thinks Bowen would be perfect for Liverpool

Speaking about his West Ham teammate, Antonio said: “He is a bagsman, everything he’s touching is turning to gold right now.

“But, hey it’s going to cost some serious dough, man just signed a seven-year deal!

“All that money you’re getting in from [Mohamed] Salah, you’ll have to give that to us!

“Obviously, he’s quality, left-footed, plays on the right side like Salah so he probably is like the perfect replacement but it isn’t going to be easy to get him out.

“It won’t be easy because that’s a seven-year contract man has just signed.”

The links between Bowen and Liverpool are nothing new and as Antonio has suggested, he’s in fantastic form right now.

His six goals and two assists in all competitions this season earned him a recall to the England squad and he’ll have one eye on next summer’s European Championships.

Bowen plays in a similar way to Salah, starting on the right and drifting into dangerous areas.

However, his best scoring season in the Premier League saw him find the back of the net 12 times.

He’s got a long way to go to match the 32 goals Salah scored in the league during his first season at the club.
