‘He’s hitting them’: Pundit has noticed 24-year-old Liverpool shooting more often recently

Darwin Nunez has really improved at Liverpool as of late.

The Uruguayan has started to score on a more regular basis, and he’s turning that threat he’s always posed into a tangible end product.

The striker is starting to look a lot more confident, and speaking on the Official Liverpool Podcast, Ray Houghton has noted one change he’s noticed in the striker.

Indeed Houghton says that Nunez looks like he’s become more comfortable with his shooting as of late, claiming that for most of the season, he’d often look to pass to Mohamed Salah, but now, he’s more trusting in his own ability to take shots on and hit the back of the net.

Darwin Nunez is shooting more

Houghton shared what he noticed about the 24-year-old.

“With Mo being out injured he’s taken more responsibility with his shooting. Prior to that, the first half of the season, he kept looking for Mo, instead of being more positive and being a bit more selfish and taking the shot on himself he was looking for Salah all the time. Whereas now he’s taking the responsibility and his confidence is growing, that’s why he’s hitting them from the distance that he is,” Houghton said.

Dangerous

A confident Darwin Nunez is a very dangerous player.

The Uruguayan has always been fantastic at getting into the right positions, but now, he’s starting to believe in his own ability a bit more to get shots off and find the net from any distance.

Nunez’s goal return in recent weeks has been fantastic, and if he can keep up this level of form between now and the end of the season, Liverpool will surely fancy their chances of winning the Premier League title.

Don’t be shocked if Nunez proves to be the difference maker when Liverpool face off against Manchester City this weekend.
