Liverpool have just begun to stutter a bit as we enter the business end of the season.
The Reds dropped points against Manchester United on Sunday, while they were unconvincing against Brighton the week before as well.
Factor in the recent FA Cup exit to, and it’s fair to say that Liverpool aren’t looking as unbeatable as they perhaps once were.
Speaking on the Official Liverpool Podcast, John Aldridge has been discussing the Reds’ recent mini-slump, and he’s highlighted one player who isn’t looking as good as he perhaps usually does.

Aldridge spoke about Liverpool’s attacking options, and he says that Darwin Nunez is really lacking confidence at the minute.
“He’s full of confidence Diaz, Mo I’m not too sure about at the moment. Nunez, no he has lost his confidence in front of goal. He needs a proper goal to get back up. The finish at the end shows he’s got no confidence, he dithered a bit and he wasn’t clinical enough. Hopefully he can get a few goals and that will come back,” Aldridge said.
Darwin Nunez is a confidence player
Aldridge is right, Nunez is lacking a bit of confidence at the moment, and that is a problem.
The Uruguayan is the epitome of a confidence player. He’s at his best when he’s feeling good about his own game, but when he starts to doubt himself, his decision-making is all over the place and his finishing is wayward.
Sometimes you just need one goal to spark a run of form, and the £70m man is in that position right now where he just needs one to fall to him in the right way and then perhaps he can put together a run of performances to help Liverpool to the Premier League title.
