Wataru Endo has had quite the week at Liverpool.
The Japan international scored his first goal for the club on Sunday against Fulham, while he put in a solid performance against Sheffield United on Wednesday evening.
The midfielder has really stepped up as of late, and speaking on Premier Sports (6/12/23 9:30PM), Damien Delaney has been discussing the 30-year-old’s recent performances for the Reds.
Delaney believes that Endo looks as though he has gotten much quicker in possession in recent weeks, claiming that he’s starting to show signs of being an elite player for the Reds.

Delaney gave his verdict on the Japanese star.
“Yes, they’re still lacking a number six, but I liked what I saw from Endo tonight he’s starting to resemble what looks like a top class number six midfield player. He’s getting quicker in possession, defensively he’s very good. He might grow as the season goes on,” Delaney said.
“He’s obviously very fit and very committed, when I first saw him I thought he was a bit ponderous at times, in possession there’s a huge demand on you, he’s the bridge, you need to be quick and add tempo, the first few games it got stuck under his feet and he played backwards too often, you have to go up a level, but I saw a bit in him tonight, one or two touch play and some crunching tackles too.”
Astute signing
Endo is starting to look like a very good player, and that just serves to show what an astute signing this was in the summer.
Let’s be honest, many of us had never heard of this player before the summer transfer window, but now he looks right at home in the heart of the midfield for one of the best teams in the world.
Liverpool may have found another hidden gem here, and Endo could have a big part to play in the Reds’ title push this term.
