It’s certainly no secret that Liverpool have already begun drawing up a list of candidates to replace Jurgen Klopp next summer.
Xabi Alonso still seems to be the favourite for the job following his success at Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Perhaps Liverpool fans would be content with any of those names, all relatively young managers who boast reason for excitement.
However, it does feel as if everything has fallen into place perfectly for Alonso to make his return to Anfield.
The Spaniard would surely be an incredibly popular option to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer, even if competition may exist from Bayern Munich.
But with all that being said, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Simon Rolfes has now declared that Alonso will be going nowhere once the season concludes.
Speaking via SPORT1 in Germany, Rolfes was very confident that his manager would remain at the club, saying they’re already planning for the future together.

Rolfes also mentioned the stipulations of Alonso’s contract as a reason why he’ll remain, saying he’s also very happy.
He said: “Yes I’m sure. One is contract constellations. The other thing is how comfortable he feels, the family, himself and that he knows what he has in the club.

“We will definitely have a top team available next year. These are all points that, in addition to contracts, coaches like Xabi but also players who arouse interest from other clubs often keep us with us.”
Of course, Bayer Leverkusen were never going to let Alonso go easily this summer, if he is indeed Liverpool’s preferable candidate to replace Klopp.
It was never just going to be the case of, ‘we wish you well’, Leverkusen will be devastated to lose such a ‘special’ manager, especially if he’s just delivered the Bundesliga title.
That’s not to say he couldn’t eventually leave with the club’s blessing, but it will take some work from the Liverpool bosses.
Manager talk aside, Virgil van Dijk has now been heavily praising a Liverpool youngster.
