‘He is going to be here’: Manager now says he’s not selling £17m Arsenal and Liverpool target

Joao Palhinha has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League over the past two years.

The Portuguese midfielder has been immense for Fulham, he’s played that holding midfield role to absolute perfection for the Whites, and, as you may imagine, many top clubs have had a sniff around the £17m man as of late.

Bayern Munich almost signed Palhinha last summer, while Arsenal and Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for the Fulham star.

Speaking in his final press conference of the season, Marco Silva has been addressing the rumours regarding Palhinha’s future, and he’s been adamant that his star man isn’t going anywhere.

Joao Palhinha is staying at Fulham

Silva spoke about the midfielder, claiming that he will be at Fulham next season.

“He’s been a key player for us. He was a player I really pushed to convince him to come to our football club,” Silva said.

“Last season he made a huge impact. This season, even after the situation in August and with all that noise, he was able to turn it around.

“Of course, he is a key player for us. He is going to play in the last game [at Luton on Sunday]. Let’s hope he has a good [Euro 2024] tournament. Next season he is going to be here.”

Joao Palhinha is so important

It’s not surprising to hear Silva speak like this about Palhinha. After all, he’s arguably Fulham’s most important player.

That said, when push comes to shove it will be interesting to see if Fulham can resist offers for the midfielder.

Palhinha will be a wanted man this summer, and if big clubs do come calling, the power may ultimately be taken out of Silva’s hands.

It remains to be seen whether or not Fulham can actually keep hold of Palhinha this summer.
